Jesus Promised To Send Help

Jesus Promised A Supernatural Helper

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.

The word another is allŏs and it means exactly like, another of the same identical essence as Christ.

A supernatural Helper would no longer just be around them but in them. He is in us and in us forever and He is the exact essence of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Promised a Supernatural Life

John 14:18 “I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you. I will not leave you orphans.”

He’s going to die, like a dying father who will be absent, but He says, I’m not going to leave you like orphans. Because I live, you shall live also. Resurrection life really is a quality of life that makes you sensitive to the spiritual life.

Jesus Promised a Supernatural Union

John 14:20 At that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

It is not that Christ and the Spirit of God are detached, but we are somehow blended into a union with them. We are one with God and Christ. Jesus said a person cannot have any union with Me unless they love Me.

Jesus Promised a Supernatural Teacher

John 14:26 But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Now that the Holy Spirit is living in you, you have a resident teacher of truth. In the Old Testament time the people of God did not have the resident Holy Spirit. Israel had a problem remembering the truth, they vacillated back and forth, repeatedly.

Godless men on a quest for spiritual truth come up with zero every time. Paul said the natural man,
a man with no faith in Christ, has no ability to understand the things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:14

Modern man tries to eliminate inspiration; they declare the Word of God isn’t all true.

Jesus Promised a Supernatural Peace

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

This peace is a divine gift. It is very much like the superintendent of all of our life attitudes
so that all of the other gifts can really function.

This peace enables us to hold the wildest fear and pause, to still a riot, to rejoice in pain and trial. This peace is never affected by circumstances but is a peace which in turn affects circumstances.

The Nature of True Peace

There are two types of peace. One is objective. It deals with our standing before God. Objective peace is that peace we have because of what God has done for us to restore us to Himself. Romans 5:1

The other is subjective peace. It is peace we have in this life with others, and with life circumstances. This peace will stand guard over our mind. It is going to prevent unworthy thoughts from tearing up our mind and thoughts.

The Source Of True Peace

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world gives…

Isaiah 48:22 “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “unto the wicked.”

We must harness this peace that is provided. We have a supernatural Helper, but we must first yield to His help.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.

Perfect peace comes when our focus is OFF the problem, and constantly ON Christ. We do that by studying the Word of God and being taught by the Holy Spirit.

We gain that by concentrating on God’s truth and the person of Jesus Christ, found in the Word of God. If we live our lives for us and focus on our problems and our needs (&/or others’ failures and shortcomings) and stay away from the Word of God, then we will never have peace in this life.

Peace will rule our hearts when we focus on Christ.
